Ancient Indian Arts Aesthetics and Culture Cultivating Human Faculties in AI Era
Abstract
The rapid advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in recent years, has impacted every aspect of life, from enhancing the quality of human existence to enriching the civilization of the day, creates the fundamental questions about the aim of human development. Today, technical skills, digital literacy and computational skills are a priority, and these are relevant, but they are not the full picture of human development. In this paper, it is suggested that the ancient Indian civilization expressed a larger vision in which arts, aesthetics, and culture played a key role in the development of perception, emotional intelligence, imagination, ethical awareness, empathy, and social consciousness. This is based on the philosophy of Indian origin, aesthetic theory, historical evidence, and current research in psychology, neuroscience, and education, which have shown that artistic involvement, changes the individual, not just the object of the art. Measures are taken to refine emotional discipline using music, painting to sharpen their perception, theatre to develop empathy, literature to nurture moral imagination and cultural participation to strengthen social responsibility. While Artificial Intelligence may create art, it cannot engage in the 'lived processes' in which art forms the human character. The paper ends by arguing that the role of the arts in learning and promoting the unique human capacities is important and has become more relevant as intelligent machines are able to make many aspects of learning and creativity look intelligent.
